So what's different about Swirl?

 

Taste: We believe that cupcakes should taste as good as they look (and vice versa). Our starting point has always been ‘moist and moreish' - case in point our fabulously decadent chocolate soufflé cupcake. For this reason we use a lighter buttercream icing - less sugary-sweet than fondants or conventional buttercream frostings (ever had that ‘I'm eating a mouthful of sugar' feeling half-way through a cake?) Occasionally we'll use a cream-cheese base icing as well - as in our summery ‘strawberries and cream' edition, which usually makes an appearance May-September.

Texture: Dry sponge is a big no-no for us. We handbake small batches from a domestic (and registered) kitchen, always to order, and using the freshest ingredients we can get our hands on (our eggs, butter and milk are all locally sourced - as are many of our fruits, when in season). Likewise our recipes and techniques ensure that we infuse as much moisture as possible into the sponge bases.

Flavour: from the fragrant Pistachio Rose through to the delicate Earl Grey with candied violets, we like to offer something a bit different. We also like to put a Swirl twist on conventional flavours and ideas - such as our chocolate and home-grown garden mint, All-American Peanut Butter, and Lemon-Lime Merengue. Or hey, we can keep it simple with chocolate / vanilla / banana... you call the shots. Check out The Collection online.

Quality: Let's face it, anyone can make a cupcake - but the devil is in the detail. That's why we hand-source the finest ingredients we can find: pure Madagascar Vanilla essence; naturally distilled damask rose water; free-range organic eggs; the juiciest lemons; the best quality chocolate...We use no preservatives, no artificial flavours and (with just a few exceptions) we try and use as many natural colours as possible.

Fashion: After all, who says a cupcake can't be properly dressed...? We accessorise with fresh fruit, pure chocolate - and our trademark 'bling' with edible glitters and sparkles. Pimp my cupcake? You betcha...
